French Potato Chips: “We have beaten England! England, birthplace of Giants!”

“Lord Nelson, Lord Beaverbrook, Sir Winston Churchill, Sir Anthony Eden, Clement Attlee, Field Marshall Wellesley, Lady Diana, Walkers… …we have beaten them all! David Cameron, can you hear me? Your boys took a hell of a beating!”

One of the simple joys of living in England were the crisps (i.e. Potato Chips). I was amazed at the variety of flavors: beyond Sour Cream and Salt n Vinegar, there were Roast Beef, Chicken, Curry, Prawn flavors. When I travel to England, I try to sneak a few packs of Walkers back home. Even the plain salt ones in the red pack beat what we have in the States.

But I was never prepared for what I saw in France. In addition to the classics mentioned above, they had Bolognaise, Provençal, Garlic Baguette, Kebab, Ketchup, Pepperoni, and… …Cheeseburger.

Had I tried them all, I probably wouldn’t be alive to write this, or at least I would have a very upset tummy. But, I hope to work my way through this fantastic menu during upcoming trips.
